Bradshaw won the toss and put Farnworth in. David Parkinson made all the headway with 16 of the 18 he'd scored coming in boundaries before Renier got Martin Axford to fend one away to Ian Tattersall at short forward square for 0. 18 for 1. Parkinson moved on to 23, then pushed Tattersall to David Morris, 31 for 2. This became 32 for 3 when Farnworth pro Garry Garner played on from Tattersall for 3. Hayes edged Potgieter through to keeper Chris Evans for 18, 40 for 4. Matt Parkinson and Walsh steadied the Farnworth innings down with a stand of 40. Parkinson went the way of his brother David. Morris taking the catch off Tattersall for 26. 80 for 5. Another partnership of 42 between Walsh and Andy Patterson was broken by pro Sajid Shah, Morris again taking the catch that removed Patterson for 18. 122 for 6. Walsh fell to Potgieter, caught Paul Stafford for 20. 123 for 7 and two new batsmen at the crease. Elliot and Patel chipped in with 16 and 10 respectively. Patel being run out by Paul Berry and Elliot falling to a spectacular catch by Evans off potgieter. 150 for 9. Farnworth captain Billy Noakes moved the score on to 157 before Potgieter claimed him as his 5th wicket, caught tattersall for 7 with 3 balls remaining. Wicket keeper Marsh the not out batsman on 1. Bradshaw's reply got off to the worst possible start with out of touch Paul Tebay being caught by Dave Parkinson off the bowling of brother Matt for 4. 5 for 1. Things improved rapidly as Paul Stafford cut loose with some blistering shots including 21 from 1 over to speed Bradshaw along to 65. He was disappointed to edge Dave Parkinson through to Keeper Marsh for a 42 that contained 5 x 4s and 2 x 6s and used up only 37 balls. From that base Bradshaw never really looked like losing and despite David Morris and Neil Johnson going cheaply for 19 and 8 respectively leaving us at 89 for 4. A quick fire 22 from Potgieter from 13 deliveries with 1 x 4 and 2 huge 6s left new signing Paul Berry and Pro Sajid Shah with a relatively simple job of knocking off the runs. Berry fell short of the finish line with the score on 150. Caught Marsh, bowled Dave Parkinson for 29 with 4 x 4s. Sajid made it three red inkers in a row finishing 26no with 1 x 4 and 3 x 6s. The returned from injury Neil Hart the other not out batsman on 5. A comfortable 4 wicket win with 9.1 overs to spare. The addition of Paul Berry to the batting order makes the line up formidable. Add to that the emergence of Sajid's batting and the boys left to follow all capable of getting runs and we seem to have lost our tail. It was also gratifying to have bowled Farnworth out. Particularly as it wasn't left to Sajid to do the damage. Ian Tattersall has bowled superbly this season and Renier has come on a lot now that he's found the right length on Bolton wickets. 20 points for Bradshaw, 3 for Farnworth meaning we jump over them in the league table. Lets hope for as good a result in the Hamer cup semi-final tomorrow against Little Lever. |
